Swimming with the Sharks

Kay Hagan was elected to the U.S. Senate from the state of North Carolina in 2009. She only served one six-year term before the great Republican election sweep of 2014 forced her back to her home state. My favorite story about Hagan has nothing to do with law making: She casually requested information about using the Senate swimming pool right after moving to D.C. because it is a favorite exercise, but was told that women weren’t allowed to use the pool because male senators preferred to swim nude. I would say this is fantasy if it weren’t so pathetically true.
