On New Year’s Day, my OKCupid account lit up like a Christmas tree. People searching for relationships tend to look at a new year as the ideal time to connect. Me? I round up my receipts and try to organize them so I don’t stroke out when it’s Income Tax time. I suppose we’re all doing the same thing: Starting afresh; mulling the possibilities. It’s safer to deal with numbers in my book, so a resolution to flip the two wouldn’t be the worst idea I’ve ever had. Writing a novel is easy. Being in a relationship? Not so much.
