As I write this, construction workers are replacing the brakes on the only elevator in the building. I don’t want to know why this particular repair job is being undertaken today since the building is only 12 weeks old, but something must have gone wrong with the original brakes or why in heaven’s name would we need them replaced? Will I feel safer boarding the elevator from my top floor apartment in the future? Actually, not so much. This is yet another “What I didn’t know can’t hurt me” scenario. I really need exercise. Those stairs are looking pretty good.
