Polls Closed; I’m Still in Shock

E-mails offering their snarky and insincere condolences from friends and family who live on the dark side of politics began arriving before all of the races had been decided in this week’s election. It’s a tough week. I made outrageous predictions and now must eat them without so much as a cup of coffee to wash them down. Can I deal with Raunchy Rauner for four years? Of course. I lived to tell about it after the fact when Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and company held court for eight years. Put into that perspective, Rauner should be a piece of cake.

  1. I think governors are elected for 6 years, aren’t they? Regardless — he won’t be able to dictate how he wants things to be and have others make it so. That’s the CEO way and not how governors get things done. So if nothing else, it will be interesting to watch.

  2. Just 4 years for governor, but it will feel like 6 with Rauner in office, I’m pretty sure. I can’t believe that Laurie Nowak and Shannon Burns lost. Both women were tireless, dynamic members of the DuPage Forest Preserve Commission.
