Why I Hate Windows

Windows
When Windows updates itself—usually while I’m on deadline and in the midst of writing an article for a client—my productivity crashes. I wish there was a “Don’t bother to update my Windows program” command like the Staples Easy button, but no such luck. Windows is like a time bomb: it sneaks up and starts doing its thing without warning. I miss my Mac even more when the interloper starts reconfiguring, recalling a kinder, gentler time when I could cruise along on MSWord control without having to stop, start and figure out what’s been “upgraded” besides my lousy mood.

  1. Somewhere in your preferences, there is a checkbox for pushing Windows updates automatically. Google how to uncheck this for your specific operating software. I’m sure it was checked by default, but you can arrange updates to happen as you want.
