Creative friends have started poking fun at my new hometown. Dave wonders if the Goodyear Blintz flies overhead on Illini game days and asks if I’ve found Saulmart yet. I have, but the location of the K[osher]-mart remains elusive. I correct his spelling of tuchas (ass), but admit to laughing mine off over so many clever remarks. Rural? Not by the measure of the large Jewish community around here, and frankly, we don’t live without our cultural and culinary comforts. Gotta snap a photo of myself in front of the synagogue so everyone can see I haven’t moved to Mayberry.
