My daughter laughed at me for traveling to Roosevelt and Meyers Roads–until she glimpsed gas prices posted on signs at the intersections Pilot and Shell stations. Turns out pump prices at both were lower than what she paid to fill her tank before leaving Urbana. As we ran around during her time in Chicago, we checked prices on the fly. The $3.58 per gallon I paid for unleaded looked pretty damned good compared to $4.19 plus that are closer to the city. We would have driven further east just to track the price escalation, but why waste my gas?
